Renovate: Legacy Software Modernization

Modernizing isn't optional. Not anymore.

The System Audit gives you a clear, honest picture of your system before anything changes

You'll walk away with a written Stabilization Roadmap, no obligation to continue. Just clarity, whenever you're ready to act.

From $4,500 · Two weeks · No surprises.

Your system shouldn't be something everyone avoids. Some systems were built by teams that are no longer around. Others expanded faster than anyone planned. Maybe AI tools sped up development and now nobody's sure how it all fits together. No matter how you got here, this is a problem we know how to solve.

Whether you inherited your system or outgrew it, temporary fixes aren't a strategy. This is.

How Valyr Renovate Works

Step 01

System Audit

Know exactly what you have before anything changes.

The right fix depends entirely on knowing what you're actually fixing. The System Audit is a fixed-scope, fixed-price examination of your system's architecture, dependencies, deployment pipeline, and risk surface. Includes an AI Risk Review flagging code that may be undocumented or poorly understood. You get a written Stabilization Roadmap: a prioritized plan that details every critical issue found, the recommended fix, and its business impact. This is the front door to every Valyr Renovate engagement. Nothing starts without it.

Deliverable: Written Stabilization Roadmap. Two weeks. From $4,500.

Step 02

Stabilization

Highest-priority issues first, defined by the Stabilization Roadmap.

The Roadmap defines what goes first. Critical bugs resolved. Key instabilities addressed. The system gets back on solid ground. This phase is defined entirely by what the audit found. No scope creep. No surprises.

Most Renovate engagements run 8 to 16 weeks after the Audit, depending on complexity. Phase 2 is scoped precisely from your Stabilization Roadmap before anything is signed. You'll know the timeline and investment before work begins.

Deliverable: A stable system. Highest-risk issues resolved first.

Step 03

Modernization

Technical debt cleared. Aging components refactored.

Once stable, we work through the technical debt that's been slowing everything down. Backlog cleaned up. Aging components refactored. The parts holding your product back are properly rebuilt. Every change is documented so your team knows exactly what changed and why.

Deliverable: A modernized system. Clean, documented, ready for what comes next.

Step 04

Deployment

Reliable releases on a schedule that works for your team.

We put CI/CD (Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment) flows in place so software ships on a regular, predictable cadence. No drama. Nothing ships without QA. If your system has a user-facing layer, we optimize the experience before anything goes live. If you have an in-house engineering team, we work alongside them. Not painful, not political.

Deliverable: A reliable release process. QA on every change. Ship when you plan to.

NOVA Chemicals

A global chemical company had a system that scientists depended on every day. Nine years of patches had turned it into something nobody could navigate. New users gave up. Experienced users found workarounds. Valyr rebuilt the experience from the ground up.
